The Accidental Adventure of The Broken Car Bumper...

For the entire of my living life, I can categorize last Thursday as the unluckiest, excruciating, unfortunate and horrible day so far for 2009… Aman, Wai Ho, Arjun and of course me stumbled along the most scripted unfortunate events that have change my view on life completely…

Let just start our darkest experiences with this…

As we finished our delighted meal at Warong 2000 after shopping for our captive trip last weekend… all of us have decided to call off the day and wanted to headed back to UNIMAS… as we were just about to leave the parking lot, we ‘kiss’ a proton wira ‘butt’, and the car bumper just fell off with ease…

We act as people with some humanity and dignity and wait for the car owner to come… we decided to tell the truth and confess… as we approach the car owner, the feeling of afraid suddenly jump into our mind… the car owner was an old man in his forties, petite in size and he was just standing helplessly… the only thing that he does was just smiling and smoking while we explaining what happen while fixing the bumper…

The car was beyond fixing… the car was broken at every side and turn… this make us to ponder that this old man always become the victim in any accident he encountered… one of the reason we knocked off the bumper is because the victim was violating our parking space thus making us have some difficulties to reverse out from the lot…

As this was also our fault, we agree to pay that ‘pakcik’ and Aman decided to sent the bumper back to pakcik’s home…. pakcik told us that his house was far but we thought that his house was around the ferry in Kota Samarahan…. So this is the starting of a series of unfortunate event after the accident…

8.11 PM marks our journey to a village named, Kampung Jaiepakcik was using the long road home and this was our point of no return…. Arjun and I was in the victim’s car while Wai Ho and Aman tailed us behind… as I look outside from the front passenger seat, I was pitch black… I can only nothing but blackness… the road journey was cold in term of weather and between me and pakcikI was thankful because Arjun was able to start some conversation with pakcik and with this we can extract some useful info or background of pakcikthe only thing the we dont know about this pakcik is his name...

10 things we know about pakcik

1. He is a teacher in his kampong

2. Age 41

3. First posting in Suai, Miri

4. Being a teacher for 25 years

5. Married and have 6 sons, 15 for the eldest and the latest one is on 31 December 2008

6. Car age 13 years

7. Bumper knocked by a lorry last year

8. A smoker, peer influence

9. The car air conditioner was also broken, cause by mice

10. First salary – RM300+

As we drive past Kampung Tambirat, Aman’s car tire ‘pancit’, an introduction of our misfortune… finish changing the tire, we continue our journey… then it was raining heavily, and our main worries was the flood that may submerge the village road… as the rain stop, we arrive at the village junction… Kampung Jaie was situated deeper from the main road… that kampong was situated in the middle of nowhere…

We arrive at Kampung Jaie around 9.45 PM and our burden disappears as we left pakcik with his bumper and family…. Now our main concern is our fuel… the fuel tank was empty and there was no fuel station to be found along our way to this disclose area… luckily we was able to purchased some fuel from a villager with a fuel price of 2.10 per litre… as we driving out from the village, our last misfortune strikes as all of us forgot the way out… we were LOST in the middle of nowhere… Luckily Aman bought enough fuel for us to venture our way out from this frightful maze…

As we drive back to our beloved UNIMAS… Arjun have some 'bussiness' (u don't want to know) and he can’t hold any longer… (can we consider this as a misfortune…??) we stop at the side of the road and Arjun finished off his business… some car came towards us from both directions and this make Arjun speeds up his ‘project’... again we felt lucky as a JPJ car drives in front of us and we decided to follow the car… the JPJ car leads us to the ferry and with some tears of joy (hahaha…) and excitement, we saw the ferry was still operating although the time was already 10.30 PM…

At last we were out from the darkness to a civilized area, full with light, people and other cars… when you were out in the darkness, we are alone with no one… we were thankful that knowing bad happen to us… and this will become a lesson for all of us to think again and wonder for our future… we will not forget our accidental adventure of the broken car bumper…
